BBL 2022: Adelaide Strikers Vs Melbourne Stars match postponed as stars 13 players are in isolation – The Big Bash League match between Adelaide Strikers and Melbourne Stars scheduled for Friday (7th January) has been postponed.
After testing positive with COVID-19, the Melbourne Stars have placed 13 players in isolation. A few of those players are expected to be released from isolation soon, pending the results of a negative test.
However, due to concerns about the players’ health and well-being, the League has determined that it is unreasonable for them to play a match in the period available following their release from isolation.
The League will announce a new date for the match soon, as well as arrangements for completing the remainder of the BBL 11 season safely.

The Head of the Big Bash Leagues, Alistair Dobson, said:
“It has been evident in recent days that, despite the possibility that players would be released from isolation shortly, it would not be suitable for those players to travel to Adelaide and play that night.”
Blair Crouch, General Manager of the Melbourne Stars, said:
“Over the last week, we’ve worked relentlessly with Cricket Australia to ensure that our BBL|11 fixtures could continue to be played.
“By making this decision, we ensure that our players have more time to recuperate from Covid-19 and perform at the levels that we expect at the Stars.”
“We’re excited to work with the league to finalise our remaining BBL|11 fixtures and welcome our members and fans back to the MCG.”
Officials will contact ticket holders directly in the coming days to arrange a complete refund.
