Sri Lanka batter Bhanuka Rajapaksa withdraws letter of retirement;
Sri Lanka batter Bhanuka Rajapaks has withdrawn his letter of retirement from the national cricket board.
Pursuant to a meeting with the Hon. Namal Rajapaksa. Minister of Youth & Sports Sri Lanka and after consulting with the National Selectors. Rajapaksa has notified SLC that he wishes to withdraw his resignation which he tendered to SLC on 3rd Jan. 2022, with immediate effect.
In a statement released today, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) confirmed the news.

Bhanuka Rajapaksa announced his immediate retirement from international cricket on last Monday. He cited family duties as the reason for his major decision.
In a formal statement issued on January 5, the SLC announced Rajapaksa’s resignation.
“I have very seriously evaluated my position as a player, husband. And I am taking this decision looking forward to fatherhood and accompanying familial commitments,” Rajapaksa wrote in his retirement letter.
He was also slammed for criticising selection methods in an interview after being left out due to fitness concerns, and was given a one-year suspension.
However, Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa asked the attacking left-handed batter to reconsider his decision to withdraw from international cricket on Sunday (Jan. 09).
Since the cricketer still has time to play for the country as a young player. The lawmaker believes it is more necessary to move forward while facing problems than to make hasty decisions.
In his letter to SLC withdrawing his resignation, he further states that he wishes to represent his country in the game he loves for the years to come.
