Sourav Ganguly speaks on Virat Kohli’s decision to step down as Test skipper;

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly. He said Virat Kohli decision to step down as Team India’s Test skipper is a “personal one”.

Ganguly’s comments come after India’s Test skipper, Virat Kohli stepped down after seven years in charge. Kohli’s choice is respected by the BCCI, according to the BCCI President.

“Under Virats leadership Indian cricket has made rapid strides in all formats of the game ..his decision is a personal one and bcci respects it immensely ..he will be an important member to take this team to newer heights in the future. A great player. well done [email protected] @imVkohli,” Ganguly tweeted.

Kohli’s 7 year stint as India’s Test captain may have ended with a series defeat in South Africa. But his spell in charge yielded historically successful results.

Sourav Ganguly Tweeted:

India won all 11 Test series under Kohli’s stewardship a home. While away from home he oversaw India’s first ever series win in Australia in 2018/19.

Kohli stepped down as T20I captain last year. And was later removed as ODI captain. Because selectors preferred a single captain for white-ball game.

Kohli had first led the side in Test cricket in 2014 against Australia. His last game as captain was the Cape Town Test in South Africa.
