SA vs IND: Virat Kohli recalls advice from MS Dhoni that has stuck with him
As India won their first Test of the series by 113 runs at Supersport Park in Centurion. India seemed to be in a great spot to win the SA vs IND series for the first time in the rainbow nation.
The guests were dealt a severe setback in the 2 games at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg. As they were beaten by 7 wickets in the absence of skipper Virat Kohli. South Africa, spearheaded by captain Dean Elgar’s Man of the Match performance, drew the series 1-1.
Johannesburg Test was demanding at times, with drive shifting back and forth between the two teams. Some important moments happened in the home team’s favour, eventually deciding the game.
Kohli said, “We did have a conversation with Rishabh Pant during practice and when a batter plays a bad shot, he would know more than anybody if he has played the right shot according to the situation and as long as an individual accepts that, he will make progress.
“We have all made mistakes in our career in important situations where we have got out, due to pressure or whatever the situation was.”
Besides, Virat Kohli recalls advice from former skipper Dhoni, Virat Kohli said, “I recall MS Dhoni once telling me that there must be a 6-7 months gap between your two faults. That is how you will progress in your international career. That became a part of my system. So reflecting on your faults is important and I know Rishabh does that and he will learn from his mistakes.”
