SA vs IND: Virat Kohli praises Ravichandran Ashwin’s consistency with the bat and the ball

Virat Kohli, India’s Test captain, believes Ravichandran Ashwin, a seasoned off-spinner. He can perform the role of a spinning all-rounder in any situation.

The third and final Test, which begins on Tuesday in Cape Town, will pit India against South Africa. Not only with the ball, but also with the bat, Ashwin has been in excellent form. The right-arm off-spinner has made important contributions to the team, including a century against England last year.

“If you look at his [Ashwin’s] batting efforts in the last Test and the way he bowled in the second innings. 19 runs in 10 overs and a wicket when he could’ve easily two or three. I believe that’s an incredible contribution to the team,” said Kohli on Monday ahead of the final Test.

“Ash is well aware that his game has progressed in leaps and bounds, particularly when it comes to bowling overseas. From Australia onwards, he understands this.”

He continued, “He’s in a very comfortable situation where he’s willing to contribute for the team and he’s doing so with the right intention and in the right way.”

In the absence of Jadeja, Kohli said Ashwin has done a good job and may be the spinning all-rounder for Team India.

“Unfortunately, Jadeja has been injured, but Ash has clearly done an excellent job in his absence, and we are certain that Ash can continue to play the position of spinning all-rounder for us in whatever situations,” Kohli said.

The series is tied at 1-1, and the series decider has all to play for.
