SA vs IND: Rahul Dravid pours praises on Virat Kohli – Indian head coach Rahul Dravid has poured praise on Test captain Virat Kohli, predicting that he will soon return to form and score huge runs for the side.

On the eve of India’s second Test match against South Africa in Johannesburg, India’s head coach Rahul Dravid praised Virat Kohli’s captaincy and batting ability.

Dravid stated during a pre-match press conference, “Despite the commotion around him, Virat Kohli has been an incredible leader in the manner he has connected on and off the field. I couldn’t say enough good things about him. It’s a true pleasure to collaborate with someone like him.”

The former Indian captain also backed Kohli to regain his form and score massive hundreds. Dravid stated that a major blow is on the way.

“Observing how he practises and how involved he is, I have a feeling a run of big runs is on the way. Despite all that is going on around him, he and his squad deserve credit “Dravid made the remark on Kohli’s batting form.

The South Africa series is India’s first away game since Dravid took over as coach in November. In his maiden home series, India defeated New Zealand 3-0 in T20Is and 1-0 in a two-match Test series last month.

Kohli and company kicked off their visit to the rainbow nation with a 113-run victory in the opening Test match at Centurion. India is currently on the verge of its first-ever series triumph in South Africa.

Rahul Dravid (in Press) said “Virat Kohli has been a fantastic leader to this team on & off the field – it’s great to work with him”.

The second Test will continue on Monday in Johannesburg (January 3). Quinton De Kock’s retirement in Test cricket has dealt a big blow to South Africa in the run-up to the game.
Considering India’s near-perfect performance during first game of the series, they will be hoping to see Kohli get back among the runs. Despite appearing to be in terrific form, he was dismissed in Centurion for scores of 35 and 18.

For more than two years, India’s Test captain has failed to achieve a 100 in international cricket. His most recent century came against Bangladesh in a pink-ball Test match in Kolkata in November 2019.
