SA vs IND, 3rd Test: India bowling coach Paras Mhambrey hailed Rishabh Pant’s knock;
Team India’s bowling coach Paras Mhambrey praised wicket keeper batsman Rishabh Pant. He praised his performance in the second innings of the ongoing SA vs IND 3rd Test in Cape Town on Thursday.
Pant hit an undefeated century as India were bowled out for 198 in the second innings, leaving South Africa with 212-run. Marco Jansen got 4 wickets for the Proteas, while Kagiso Rabada and Lungi Ngidi each took 3.
“It was a fantastic innings that brought us back into the game. From a personal standpoint, he was under pressure because he needed runs at a critical time for the club. He’s done a great job of setting the tone for us. I’m really pleased with the way he batted. He showed a lot of character out there on a difficult pitch to bat on” said Mhambrey during a virtual press conference.
“You wanted a partnership at the time, Virat was on the other end, and there was a need for one. We batted well, and we wanted to form a partnership, so Rishabh had to take the lead once Virat was out. He batted extremely well and provided us a chance to win the Test from here” he added.
On Day 3, South Africa took complete control of India, with Dean Elgar (30) and Keegan Petersen (48*). South Africa’s total at stumps is 101/2, with the hosts requiring 111 runs to win.
India annoyed by a DRS call that assisted Dean Elgar in his LBW decision reversed.
“We saw it, and you saw it as well. I’ll defer to the match referee to assess the situation. I don’t have much further to say. We’ve seen everything and want to get back to the game” Mhambrey added.
