PSL 2022: Hassan Khan replaces Shahid Afridi for Quetta Galdiators;

PSL 2022: Quetta Gladiators have partially replaced veteran all-rounder Shahid Afridi, who is unavailable for the initial matches due to Covid, with left-handed spinner Hassan Khan.

Hassan Khan is one of the 15 reserve players in the Managed Event Environment and, as such, will not required to undergo 72-hour isolation to join Gladiators squad.

The partial replacement has approved by Event Technical Committee, which is headed by Zakir Khan (Director – International Cricket Operations). And includes Nadeem Khan (Director – High Performance) and Sameer Khosa.

In the ongoing Karachi leg, the Gladiators have three more matches. On January 31, they will face Multan Sultans, Islamabad United on February 3, and Lahore Qalandars on February 7. They’ve won one of the two games they’ve played thus far.

After briefly exiting the bio-secure bubble for a medical check-up on January 27. The former Pakistan captain and Gladiators all-rounder tested positive for coronavirus.

Wasim Akram, the president of the Karachi Kings, who tested positive for coronavirus on January 25, has since tested negative and will play in today’s match against the Lahore Qalandars.

Vivian Richards arrives in Karachi 

Veteran West Indies cricketer Sir Isaac Vivian Alexander Richards and Gladiators’ mentor, has also arrived in Karachi.

Richards expressed his delight at returning to Pakistan in a telegram sent shortly after his arrival. He also praised the team for their strong start to the PSL season.

After a three-day isolation period, Sir Viv Richards will rejoin the Gladiators.

Richard congratulated the Gladiators once more and stated that he hopes to see the members of the squad soon.

On Saturday, Quetta Gladiators defeated Karachi Kings by eight wickets in the seventh edition of the Pakistan Super League.
