Legends League Cricket: Irfan Pathan’s 18-ball fifty in vain as World Giants knock out India Maharajas;
Legends League Cricket: Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan scored the fastest fifty of the ongoing Legends League Cricket (LLC) 2022 in Muscat on Thursday (January 27), but India Maharajas were unable to defeat World Giants. Irfan took the Maharajas close to victory by hitting 56 off 21 balls, including six sixes, as they chased 229 to win.
Former Australia pacer Brett Lee, on the other hand, defended seven runs in the penultimate over – giving up only two runs – and took Irfan’s wicket to give the Giants a five-run triumph and a place in the LLC final.
Naman Ojha had earlier scored a magnificent 95, while captain Yusuf Pathan had also scored a quick-fire 45. With Rajat Bhatia getting run-out off the penultimate ball, Lee grabbed Irfan first ball and defended the score, bringing the Giants to a nail-biting triumph.
