IPL 2022: Sri Lanka Cricket ready to host the upcoming edition;

Sri Lanka Cricket is ready to host IPL 2022 according to reports.

The BCCI is seeking for new venues to host the Indian Premier League’s 15th edition. Due to the rising Covid-19 pandemic in the country. The BCCI is considering South Africa and Sri Lanka as alternatives.

Due of the COVID-19 outbreak in India, the last two editions of the IPL were held in UAE. The IPL 2021 season began in India.

However, after some players tested positive for COVID midway through the tournament. BCCI was forced to postpone the event. In September-October, the competition was finished in the United Arab Emirates.

TATA will replace VIVO as the tournament’s principal sponsor for the upcoming edition. IPL chairman Brijesh Patel said earlier.

“We have seen reports and we will be happy to host the IPL in Sri Lanka. We will initiate talks with the BCCI regarding this soon.” Mohan de Silva, the secretary of the SLC, was quoted as saying to Cricbuzz.

Silva also sounded positive about Sri Lanka’s status throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The Covid situation is not bad here in Sri Lanka and you can be assured we will be very warm hosts,” the SLC secretary added.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India gave formal approval to the Indian Premier League’s (IPL) two new franchises.

The IPL auction will take place on February 12 and 13 in Bengaluru.

Two New Teams, Ahmedabad and Lucknow have time until January 22 at 5 p.m. to complete their signings.
