IPL 2022: RCB will make decision regarding captaincy after mega auction says Mike Hesson

IPL 2022: Mike Hesson, Director of Cricket Operations, Royal Challengers Bangalore on Saturday said that the franchise will choose a captain after the mega auction is over.

Last season, Virat Kohli announced that he would not captain the franchise frpm IPL 2022. RCB picked up Wanindu Hasaranga, Faf du Plessis, and Josh Hazlewood on day one of the mega auction on Saturday.

“We have not had that discussion yet. Also We have three great leaders now in the form of Maxwell, Virat, and Faf du Plessis. We are really happy with those three leaders, we also have Josh Hazlewood as a leader from a bowling point of view. So we are happy with the group, we will make a decision regarding captaincy after the auction,” said Hesson during a virtual press conference on Saturday.

Ishan Kishan, Shreyas Iyer, and Deepak Chahar were among the top picks on Day 1 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction. Mumbai Indians paid Rs 15.25 crore for Kishan, while Chennai Super Kings paid Rs 14 crore for Chahar.

Iyer was purchased for Rs 12.25 crore by Kolkata Knight Riders. While Avesh Khan was acquired for Rs 10 crore by Lucknow Super Giants, making him the most expensive uncapped player.

Delhi Capitals bought Indian all-rounder Shardul Thakur for Rs 10.75 crore. While Gujarat Giants purchased New Zealand bowler Lockie Ferguson for Rs 10 crore. Rajasthan Royals paid Rs 10 crore for Indian pacer Prasidh Krishna.

West Indies wicketkeeper batter Nicholas Pooran sold to Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 10.75 crore. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) bought Sri Lanka spinner Wanindu Hasaranga for Rs 10.75 crore.
