IPL 2022: Mark Wood confirms to enter upcoming Mega auction but already considering pulling out;
Mark Wood has revealed that he is unsure about playing in the IPL 2022. But confirms to put his name in the mega auction.
The deadline for submitting papers has been extended by one week, with several England and Australia players debating whether or not to register.
Wood, like other multi-format players who have yet to clarify whether or not they will play this year, could be a late withdrawal.
The issue of more bubble life and more time away from the family are the big issues for Wood.
Wood said, as quoted by the Daily Mirror: “I am in the auction at the minute. But it’s important to have that time at home and reflect. At the minute I’ll be in it. If I look ahead to the World Cup and I can learn something in the IPL, if I can put myself in pressure situations and try and get better for the end of the year, that’ll be good.
“It’s just whether the time away from home, the bubbles…I’ve done Australia without my son which has been quite hard. Especially around Christmas. So I’ll have to see how the family situation is.”
With the likes of Anrich Nortje and Kagiso Rabada capturing the attention during the previous season. Wood knows that great fast bowlers have a lot of appeal in the IPL.
Elsewhere, it’s unclear whether Jofra Archer will be auctioned off as he recovers from an elbow injury. That kept him out of both the T20 World Cup and the Ashes.
