IPL 2022: Lucknow Team drafted KL Rahul, Marcus Stoinis and Ravi Bishnoi;

IPL 2022: The Lucknow IPL franchise drafted three players. It includes KL Rahul, Marcus Stoinis and Ravi Bishnoi for the upcoming season.

Lucknow has opted to go with KL Rahul (Rs 17 crore), Marcus Stoinis (Rs 9.2 crore), and Ravi Bishnoi (Rs 4 crore).

Rahul is the first player picked by the RP Sanjiv Goenka Group. They purchased the Lucknow franchise for INR 7090 crore (about USD 940 million) last October. Since the 2018 IPL, Rahul has been one of the most consistent batters in the league. He had previously told his previous organisation, Punjab Kings. He had been captain for the previous two seasons, that he wanted a change. And was consequently discharged by the management.

Stoinis will play in his fourth IPL season in Lucknow. He began his career with the Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) in 2015, and he returned to the team in 2020 after being purchased for INR 4.8 crore. Stoinis, 32, has played 27 games for the Capitals, scoring 441 runs at a strike rate of 142.71 and taking 15 wickets. He had also played for Punjab and Royal Challengers in the interim.

Bishnoi was one of the most sought-after uncapped players ahead of this year’s IPL auction. With several franchises indicating great interest in him after his performance in the 2020 Under-19 World Cup in South Africa, where he finished as the leading wicket-taker. Punjab was one of them, having won a bidding war for him alongside Mumbai Indians in the 2020 auction for INR 2 crore.

Talking about Lucknow, KL Rahul will don the captaincy hat. Andy Flower already named the coach of the Lucknow franchise. While former India batter Gautam Gambhir will serve as the mentor of the franchise.

Earlier KL Rahul decided to part ways with Punjab Kings as he wanted to go to auction.
