RCB did not retain Harshal Patel ahead of IPL 2022 mega auction. But, they decided to keep Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell and Mohammad Siraj in the Team.
While the mega auction for IPL 2022 is one of the hottest news. As many franchises retain players for IPL 2022. Harshal Patel, the purple cap winner of the 2021 season isn’t retained by the Royal Challenger Bangalore. Instead, RCB retained Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell and Mohammed Siraj ahead of the IPL auction.
In the latest interview with CricTracker, the pacer told the cause that was explained to him by RCB’s Director of Cricket, Mike Hesson.
“When I didn’t get through the retention, Mike Hesson called me and said, that it was mainly purse management,” Harshal said.
He said, that he is willing to play for RCB again. Mentioning the 2021 season. That aided his breakthrough in the Indian T20I. He also added that he hadn’t heard from any IPL 2022 Team
“Clearly, they would love to have me back in the team, and I, too, would love to return and play for the team because RCB and this season (2021) altered my entire career and life.” However, I have yet to hear from any franchises regarding the auction,” he added
He also added that the experience of playing with two of the greatest players of present-era cricket- AB De Villiers and Virat Kholi was great. And he never felt small in experience between them.
It’s pretty normal, to be honest. I don’t get star-struck. Even I remember my first year in IPL, I was never star-struck. I just admire them for what they bring onto the field. The kind of people they are, the level of skill they have and their ability to stand up in pressure situations and say: “I am going to bring the team out of this difficult situation.” That’s what I have learnt from those two guys.
