IPL 2022 Auction: Tripura lad Amit Ali breaks barriers, shortlisted for Mega Auction
The Tripura Cricket Association hailed local leg spinner Amit Ali for being shortlisted for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction. Ali’s journey of indomitable spirit began in a rural region on the Indo-Bangla border and led to his inclusion on a list of cricketers shortlisted for auction.
“His achievement as a cricketer not only brought smiles to the faces of his parents but also encouraged many. He debuted in first-class cricket in the year 2021 in List A. Later, he played for Tripura in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and played his maiden match in T20 for Tripura in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy,” Tripura Cricket Association officials said.
Ali is from Kamalasagar, a small village in Tripura’s Sepahijala district. After the barbed fences were extended along Indo-Bangla borders, part of his village including his residence was incidentally excluded from the Indian side.
Despite the fact that Ali is an Indian citizen, he had to cross the fencing to attend cricket training. His parents were concerned about his future because he struggled with his education when he was a toddler.
According to Ali’s parents, he acquired a strong interest in sports during his school years, and at one point. He made the firm choice to pursue a career as a cricket player.
“We are now praying to God to see our son playing neck and neck with international cricketers,” said Ali’s parents.
He came in at number 472 on the list. His uncanny ability to flip the ball on the crease gave his life a new lease on life.
