IPL 2022 Auction: 5 players who might be bought back by Chennai Super Kings at mega auction – The much-anticipated IPL 2022 Auction will allow a few players to rejoin their former club. Among them are Faf du Plessis, Suresh Raina, Dwayne Bravo, Ambati Rayudu, and Robin Uthappa. All of these players have expressed a desire to stay with CSK.

Several teams have shown a desire to restructure its core. Similarly, a lot of players will be eager to return to CSK, the reigning champions (Chennai Super Kings).

Faf du Plessis

The South African batsman may have turned 37, but he has been a vital factor in CSK’s recent success. He smashed a record 633 runs in the IPL 2021 season, coming only a couple of runs shy of Ruturaj Gaikwad’s Orange Cap. He previously scored 449 and 396 runs in IPL 2020 and IPL 2019. He has played in 100 IPL matches in all. With clubs looking for a consistent and seasoned opening batter, he may be a terrific option.

“I am confident that they would pursue Faf because he has been fantastic for CSK over the last 5 or 6 years,” Uthappa remarked.

Ambati Rayudu

Well over years, the right-handed hitter has been an unsung hero for the yellow army. He adapted to new duties and has helped the squad get out of sticky situations on several occasions. In the last three IPL seasons, he has scored 282, 359, and 257 runs. He has played in 175 IPL matches and scored 3916 runs, including a century and 21 fifties. He can also hit sixes under duress and has 149 sixes in the IPL.

“…I would unquestionably like to play for CSK. There hasn’t been any formal communication with me so far, but I’m hoping to get picked by them and have another good league,” said Rayudu.

Robin Uthappa

After significant knocks in limited appearances last season, Robin Uthappa will be looking for a favour from CSK. He scored 115 runs in four matches, including a critical 63-run knock. He has a vast experience of 193 matches and 4722 runs, which includes 25 fifties and 168 sixes.

Suresh Raina

Suresh Raina made 160 runs in 12 innings for CSK in the previous IPL at a strike rate of 17.77. He has appeared in 205 matches and scored 5528 runs at 32.51, including 39 fifties and a century. He missed the IPL 2020 season due to personal circumstances and scored 383 runs in 17 matches in the IPL 2019 at a strike rate of 23.93. The 35-year-old has passed his prime, but he has expertise that an IPL franchise may benefit from. Raina does not play competitive cricket, and his participation in the IPL alone casts doubt on his purchase at the IPL 2022 Auction. Suresh Raina was last purchased by CSK for a whopping Rs 11 crore, but he is set to be selected at base price in an unusual situation.

“I think he’s (Suresh Raina) the biggest pillar of CSK that we’ve had.” He’s been a key factor in helping CSK qualify for so many knockout stages over the last 10-12 years. So, Sureshi (Suresh Raina) has been a critical gear in the wheel, so I think he’ll be the first man they go after,” said Robin Uthappa on Star Sports’ IPL Retention show.

Dwayne Bravo

Over the years, the West Indies allrounder has been an important cog in the Chennai Super Kings machine. He can contribute in all departments, bowling match-winning spells and scoring critical runs. Since joining CSK, the 38-year-old has led the team to three IPL titles. In fact, he has a record 16 T20 league victories. He has played 151 matches, taking 167 wickets at an economy rate of 8.35. Aside from that, he has scored 1500+ runs. In total, he has played 512 T20Is, taken 553 wickets, and scored over 6600 runs. He can extend his IPL career for a few more seasons.

“I have not been retained by CSK, but I will be in the sale, I will be 100% in the auction.” I’m not sure which team I’ll end up on. I’ll wind up where I’m supposed to be. “I don’t know if I’ll be picked up by CSK or not; I may be picked up by any other team because I’m in the auction,” said Bravo.
