IND vs WI: Ravi Bishnoi gets maiden call-up, Kuldeep Yadav makes comeback;
IND vs WI: Young leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi received his first India call-up for the upcoming T20 series against the West Indies, while seasoned wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav returned to the white ball cricket after recovering from knee surgery.
“Kuldeep Yadav is making a comeback and Ravi Bishnoi is the new face in the team for the West Indies series. The team will be led by Rohit Sharma,” a BCCI source told PTI.
Kuldeep Yadav, who had not played in a series in over a year, had a nice run but was not particularly effective in taking wickets. After being overlooked in the first half of IPL. Kuldeep was forced to miss the second leg of the IPL 2021 due to injury. He also missed out on white-ball competitions in the United States. He did, however, play in one Test against England and took two wickets.
Bishnoi was one of the surprises of the Indian Premier League for the Punjab Kings. And he was selected in the draft for the upcoming IPL by new franchise Lucknow Supergiants.
However, pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been retained in the ODI squad. And dropped for T20s while former skipper Virat Kohli will feature in both squads.
Kuldeep, who lost his mojo in the Kohli-Ravi Shastri era, has been called back. As the current team management and selectors feel that he has the x-factor to contribute to the team’s cause.
He underwent a knee surgery in September last year.
The six-match series against the West Indies will feature three T20 Internationals starting in Ahmedabad from February 6 and followed by as many ODIs in Kolkata.
The BCCI has reduced the number of venues from six to two due to COVID-19 protocols.
