IND vs WI 1st T20I: Ravi Bishnoi, Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav star as hosts register six-wicket win
IND vs WI 1st T20I: India defeated West Indies by six wickets in the first T20I of the three-match series at the Eden Gardens on Wednesday, with Ravi Bishnoi’s two-wicket haul and excellent performances from Rohit Sharma (40) and Suryakumar Yadav (34*).
India has taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match series, and the second T20I will be played at the same venue on Friday. India got off to a quick start in chase of 158, as openers Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan put on 58 runs in the first six overs. Roston Chase finally got the better of Rohit Sharma (40) in the eighth over, ending the 64-run opening stand. In the 12th over, Chase took his second wicket, dismissing Kishan (35) and reducing India to 93/2, still needing 65 runs to win.

India was struck a body blow in the next over. When Fabien Allen had Virat Kohli (17) caught at long-off by skipper Kieron Pollard. Then Rishabh Pant and Suryakumar Yadav were the new batsmen at the crease. Moreover, Pant (8) failed with the bat, being removed by Sheldon Cottrell in the 15th over, reducing India to 114/4.
Suryakumar (34*) and Venkatesh Iyer (24*) clinched India’s victory by six wickets with seven balls to spare.
