Chris Morris Retires: IPL’s most expensive player retires from cricket ahead of IPL 2022 Mega auction;

Chris Morris, a South African all-rounder, announced his retirement from all forms of cricket on Tuesday. Morris will join the Titans in a “coaching position.” The towering all-rounder expressed gratitude to everyone who helped him along the way. “Today I announce my retirement from all forms of cricket! Thanks to all who have played a part in my journey whether it be big or small… it’s been a fun ride! Delighted to be taking up a coaching role at Titans,” Morris posted on his Instagram account.

The right-arm medium pacer and right-handed hitter has played for South Africa in four Tests, 42 One-Day Internationals, and 23 Twenty20 Internationals. Morris has scored 459, 1756, and 697 runs in Tests, ODIs, and T20Is, respectively, while also capturing 12, 48, and 34 wickets.

The 34-year-old made his international debut in 2012 and most recently represented South Africa in the 2019 ODI World Cup.

Morris also spent several years in the Indian Premier League. He played for franchises such as Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals), Rajasthan Royals, and Royal Challengers Bangalore. When Rajasthan Royals bought him for Rs 16.25 crore ahead of the 14th season in 2021, he became the highest paid cricketer in the history of IPL auctions.
