NZ vs BAN: Ross Taylor took the last Bangladesh wicket to seal New Zealand’s series-leveling triumph by an innings and 117 runs in the second and final match on Tuesday in his farewell act in Test cricket.
With his family in attendance, veteran New Zealand hitter Ross Taylor could not have wished for a more appropriate farewell following a 15-year voyage in red-ball cricket.

“It’s fantastic to end your career with a win and a wicket. I wanted to retire on a high note, and the lads delivered.” Bangladesh has put us under a lot of pressure on several occasions. So it’s only fair that we split the series,” an emotional Taylor said after the match to the official broadcasters.

“I really enjoyed the series. I was debating if we should return the next day, but the guys were amazing. “Towards the finish, it got a little strange, so I chunked it up. And Tom (Latham) thought it was the most valuable thing I did all game,” Taylor said of the wicket.
The fans at the Hagley Oval chanted for Taylor to be given the ball after Bangladesh’s ninth wicket fell, and New Zealand skipper Tom Latham agreed. Latham collected a leaping catch at midwicket to ensure a winning farewell for the former New Zealand captain as the part-time spinner sent down two dot balls before inducing a skyer from Ebadot Hossain.
Harbhajan Singh and S Sreesanth were Taylor’s previous two victims during New Zealand’s 2010 tour of India.
