BPL 2022: Dhaka sign Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudullah and Mashrafe Mortaza – Dhaka had previously signed national T20 captain Mahmudullah Riyad as a straight signing.
Dhaka, a franchise operated by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), has signed Tamim Iqbal and Mashrafe Bin Mortaza for the eighth edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). According to the BPL Governing Council’s guidelines, each team was permitted to sign one local player and three overseas players through direct signing.

Dhaka has previously signed Bangladesh T20 captain Mahmudullah. The initial bidder for Dhaka was Rupa Fabrics Ltd and Marn Steel Ltd (Consortium). But, because they failed to pay the BDT Five Crore bank guarantee, the board opted to replace them at the eleventh hour.

“We still have several offers for the Dhaka franchise after we opted not to proceed with the initial bidder since they did not meet all of our standards on time.” “Right now, we’re simply trying to check out the financial health of the interested parties because we had some poor experiences in the past with franchise payment and don’t want to make a repeat error,” BPL governing council member secretary Ismail Haider told Cricbuzz.

Habibul Bashar, a BCB selector, and Mahmudullah were both bidding for Dhaka in the draught. As a result, Tamim and Mortaza were included in the first three calls. As a result, the senior trio will play together for the first time in BPL history. The T20I captain spoke out about it and expressed confidence in the team’s ability to perform well in the tournament.

We have the chance to do well in BPL: Mahmudullah

“I’ve always believed we’d play together again.” I’m glad to see that we’ll be able to play together again. Tamim is also on our team, and we have a lot of experienced guys. So I’m hoping that if we can execute it in the field, we’ll be able to play well in BPL,” he remarked.
Tamil Iqbal also revealed his emotions about playing with Mortaza and Mahmudullah, adding that their role is to simply support their captain.

“It’s really great to see all three in one team, and that’s why our team has been so powerful.” And having the three of us in the dressing room will be a lot of fun. I’m not going to say anything regarding captaincy since Riyad (Mahmudullah) Vai is still captain of the T20 team and deserves the position. “It’s our obligation to help him,” Tamim explained.
