As Jos Butler suffered an injury in his finger, while wicketkeeping on the 2nd day of the Sydney Test. Because of this, he will not be a part of the 5th and final Ashes Test series. Joe Root conformed to Buttler’s absence from the series. Joe Root also said that Buttler’s absence will lead to real disappointment.

“Jos Buttler is going home, it’s quite a bad injury,” said Root at the post-match appearances. “It’s a real disappointing shame for him and for the team. But it’s part and parcel of playing Test cricket. From time to time you’ve got to take these things, but the way he stood up during the rest of the game, having taken that, and put it in for the boys is proof of his personality and how much he cares about playing for this team,” he added.
