Earlier, when the final session resumed at 321/6, Usman Khawaja and Pat Cummins contributed 10 runs to the total before Cummins (24) was bowled by Stuart Broad. Broad’s fourth wicket of the innings.
Mitchell Starc next stepped out to bat in the mid, and he and Khawaja frustrated England’s bowlers. Both batsman put on 67 runs for the eighth wicket, which Broad finally shattered when he dismissed Khawaja (137). Broad’s 19th five-wicket haul in Test cricket came as a result of this wicket.
